It had been a few days since her Master had let her go. She had her own apartment and a plethora of clothes that she was not quite comfortable wearing but was all the same. As always she was walking out late at night. Something she was use to and her skin was a bit pale but her freckles were still there. Sighing she pulled off her shoes and walked on the grass; she was at the park after all.
The girl still shied away from men and even women. She did not really know where she stood on the whole subject. She did not blame mother for abandoning her; since she was human and clearly not gifted. A mutation really. Still she walked along the grass and at times would flinch thinking someone was walking by her. The moon was out giving her a better view but not much. She wished she could have stayed instead of being dumped off - as she put it. Nadia guessed this was better than what the other women went through. Not tortured exactly but used as sex toys and meals. She had been mostly just for pride - she guessed.
She was the first female human in a long time and she was still a virgin so it was something of status to have her. She assumed. Nadia did not really care as she guessed it was alright. Better than being killed and drained dry. A man walked by her and she involuntarily jerked away from him slightly. Her Master had been kind to her but those he had lent her to - or one had beaten her. Very severely; broken ribs, a wrist and a concussion. Of course the man was no longer among her or anyone really. She had been healed as well. Sighing she sat on the bank of the pond and dipped her feet in the cool water. Really she was a good girl in concept so why had she been let go? Maybe he had changed his mind or her family's debt had finally been paid off. Such a horrible and primitive way of paying off something. Sighing she pushed her hair out of her face. She had seen her Master naked and she was not sure why he had not chosen to deflower her as she was pretty - she assumed anyway. He was not that bad to look at either; very sculpted if she had to choose a few words. She had only been allowed to watch though. Such a twisted sense of reality he lived in. Slave didn't just mean serving someone or working endless days; it could also mean lounging around and simply allowing your Master to use your body for pleasure. Neither of these she really got to experience. Sure she had performed and received oral sex but that was it. He would stop her or himself and feed off of her.
Another sigh and the girl continued dipping her feet. Being pure wasn't so bad. In fact she liked it. She did not have the primitive urges like her Master had. To be ruled by sex at times. He was an animal most of the time. Feeding at times during the situation and growling. She didn't want that. If that was what sex was supposed to be like - all this growling, biting, and lack of manners. Spitting on each others genitals and in their mouths. Though she was not allowed to watch Master when he was with his wife. Yes, the man was married and she had even waited on the woman - who seemed to not care. Yes, being a virgin was probably the best thing for her right now.

Another day. Or perhaps it was night. Daniel would have glanced skyward through the thin canopy of trees had he been able to find it within himself to care. When was the last time he’d slept? Two days ago? Three? He couldn’t remember. It didn’t matter. He was never fully awake anyway. He was barely aware of the dark shadows that had formed under his murky blue-grey eyes, let alone anything else around him. The only thing he was really focused on at the moment was avoiding the trees rushing at him from every angle.
Well, technically he was charging them. He didn’t want to hit one either way, no matter how tempting the idea was. In all honesty, he would have welcomed the pain, or any feeling really, were he able to concentrate on shifting the angle of his feet just a tad to the left… instead, he just let his feet carry him deeper into the woodland. When the trees began thinning out, Daniel realized he’d crossed into neutral territory. The city center’s park to be exact. He swallowed this information in stride, letting it slip his mind like Jello through a fork. He didn’t care where he was. He hadn’t even paid attention to boundaries during the war. Why should he? It wasn’t his fight. All he wanted to do was run, and run he did.
Running was the only thing that Daniel found any real joy in anymore. If you could even call it joy. Maybe if you thought of joy in the loosest sense of the word. Ever since… he changed… it’s all he’s done. All he’s felt like doing. Nothing matter anymore. Nothing.
Daniel stretched his long lets out as he ran, increasing his speed ever so slightly. He wasn’t going anywhere in particular. He was just running. He ran, he slept sporadically, he ate on occasion, and then he ran some more. The wind buffeted his short blond hair now, giving it a bit of a spiked look. His heart-shaped face was somber as he dodged tree after tree and bench after empty bench. He ran without hesitation, trusting his feet to carry him safely through the park. With the trees spread further apart, Daniel could now see the moon shining down through the tree tops. Perhaps it was time to turn around, before he hit the city. Even though the war had ended years ago, there were still many who didn’t take kindly to Night Crawlers hanging around anywhere but their own territory.
As if they could catch him.
Suddenly, Daniel realized he could hear something new. It was rhythmic and strong, but muted. It was somebody’s heartbeat. He’d assumed he was alone here, seeing as those who resided in the City Center were usually wary of the night. He’d barely identified the sound when Daniel blindly, having not been paying attention while he was picking out the new sound, tripped over something sitting on the ground. And then he was flying head over heels through the air.
Normally, Night Crawlers are super aware of their surroundings. Their senses are magnified nearly ten times that of humans or any other creatures whose hearts still beat. However, Daniel had removed himself so far from the world that as he somersaulted everything around his was blurred. Before he could force himself to flip back onto his feet and keep running, he heard a loud splash and was abruptly shrouded in water.
The boy opened his eyes to find himself underwater. He felt a short moment of panic as he tried to untangle his legs and kick to the surface before he realized he didn’t need the air. However, as he did come up, he accidently swallowed a mouthful of the filthy water. He stood, trying to find a decent foot hold in the thigh-high water, and coughed, trying to clear his throat of the nasty taste the water left him choking on.
His leather jacket squeaked as he convulsed, and his dark jeans clung to his legs. His white, pin-striped button down shirt was plastered to his chest and missing a button. When he stopped choking, he turned around and shook his sopping wet hair, spraying droplets in all directions. As far as he could tell, nothing hurt. No damage (besides the button that is, but that was whatever). Then he looked up to see exactly what, or who, he’d just so recklessly hurtled into.

She sighed a bit and pushed her hair out of her eyes. This was alright she supposed. In a few hours she would go back to her little apartment and sleep. Maybe even try to sleep during the night rather than during the day. Hopefully whoever came to call on her would be a lot like her previous Master and be telepathic as well.
The girl could only hope though. Nadia paid no attention to the noise behind her as it seemed to be off in the distance. She did not know. Her hearing was as average as a humans; maybe because she was just human. Well good thing she was sitting on the edge of the back or small cliff; whatever this was called. A sharp pain came in her back as it seemed she was hit with something and the girl plunged into the water.
She freaked out a bit as her head had been hit as well; disorientating her. Which way was up? After about thirty seconds she figured it out and stood up rather awkwardly; gasping for air. Her clothes were soaked! What the hell? Her jeans felt odd on her body now and her over shirt and t-shirt were clinging to her. She grumbled slightly, pushed the hair out of her face and wrung out her clothes.
The girl did not bother to look for whatever she had been hit with; the pain in her back and head were quite obvious and the person was probably long gone now anyway. Wringing her hair out she noticed a man standing in front of her; in the water as well. Her eyes opened wide as she realized there was a man standing in front of her in the water. "Oh my god! I am so sorry. I should watch what I'm doing..." she sputtered off before climbing back onto the bank
She began stripping off her clothes. They were wet after all. Humans walked around in practically nothing anyway so what was the difference? Though her under garments stayed on. She did have some dignity. Where ever that was. Of course her body seemed to glow in the moonlight, making it more obvious that it was used as some source of food. There had to be several bite mark patches on her body. Subtle but still noticeable. Her Master had been kind enough to bite gently rather than ripping into her.
Adjusting herself she noticed a button had somehow gotten into her bra. "What the hell?" she said quietly more to herself than anyone really. How had a fricking button gotten in there?! Looking over her clothes it did not seem to be from hers. "Is..is this yours?" she looked up at the man again and held out the button. "I can sew it back on if you want." Really she could do just about anything. Good thing she had not been hit harder. Bones might have been broken rather than bruised. Yes, she'd definitely feel it in the morning.

When he saw the girl, wringing her hair out, Daniel didn’t know what to think. She didn’t appear to be hurt. Daniel could see what had happened now. He’d kicked the back of this dripping girl, and his knee had smacked into the back of her head as her body automatically resisted the force that eventually shoved her into the filthy pond. He was surprised that she didn’t have a concussion or something, having been hit by a Night Crawler, a creature slightly colder and harder than any other species, with an unnatural speed ability that had been going nearly full speed. In fact, he was a little surprised she wasn’t still thrashing around underwater, or even unconscious. But that’s not why he stared.
She was a pretty young girl, in a naïve sort of way, but she clearly wasn’t a Night Crawler. She wasn’t a Shifter, or Gifted either. He didn’t know how he could tell. It was something about her. It was everything about her. Her stance, her scent, her… essence. And she, obviously, wasn’t a spirit. So what did that leave?
… A human?
Daniel had heard rumors, little snippets of whisperings that slipped in his ears when his mind wandered, but he hadn’t thought much of it. He hadn’t seen a single human in more than a century. Impossible, he had thought. How could an extinct creature suddenly reappear? Yet here one was, standing before him. Soaking wet.
“Oh my, God! I am so sorry.” she said when she suddenly realized she wasn’t alone. “I should watch what I’m doing…” Daniel just stared. She scrambled out of the water and, much to his surprise, began peeling off her soaking clothes. His eyebrows drew together in confusion, but he didn’t move. He couldn’t. Daniel tried to think. To focus on some normal thought. He hadn't seen anyone for days, and when he had, they'd been Night Crawlers. This was the first time he’d ever seen a human since… he couldn’t remember when exactly. More than a century, at least. This ordeal left him feeling hazy, unsure. But unconcerned nonetheless. If he could grab a small chokehold of reality, not a lot, but enough to form a decent thought, he probably would have just sprinted away. But because he was having a hard time doing that at the moment, he just stared, unblinking. Unattached.
And then he noticed something not quite right with this picture. The girl, now standing before him in nothing but her undergarments, was already naturally pale, which only made it that much easier for Daniel to pick out little scars all over her body. They were crescent shaped marks with two evenly spaced puncture wounds just a little deeper than the rest. Punctures from elongated fangs. They were bite marks.
Vampire bite marks.
“What the hell?” she murmured, pulling something out of her bra. She looked up at him in confusion, holding out a small, round object. A button. “Is… is this yours?” she asked, still looking uncertain. “I can sew it back on if you want.”
Then something caught up with Daniel. His decency, perhaps. Some long lost sense of chivalry buried under years of solitude. Before he realized what he was doing, he was beside the girl. He’d already managed to slip out of his jacket and now wrapped it around the girl’s shoulders tightly before darting a few feet away. Just to be safe. At the speed he’d gone, all this had taken less than three seconds.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” he hissed quietly, his eyes narrow in disbelief and disapproval. “Do you know how many dangerous creatures are lurking out there? How many… animals would just love to get their hands on you? And you’re just inviting them in?” He glared at her now, waiting for a response as well as for his mind to catch up to his mouth.

He seemed to be staring at her for some reason; she did not get it but then she was still a bit dizzy from being run into. It had not occurred to her to check the back of her heard; which she did right now. Of course it was wet; and sore but the liquid she tasted was water. The girl knew what blood tasted like; at least her blood. This iron taste almost it seemed.
She did not flinch when he suddenly appeared closer to her; it just proved what he was. A jacket on her shoulders or tightly on her shoulders and the girl looked confused at him. Blinking a few times she sat down in the grass and began wringing out her clothes. "I was sitting in the park." she said calmly. Duh? She had placed the button in a pocket of the jacket. "Most know who I am and don't bother me so much" she shook her shirt a bit and slipped it back on.
Her master might have set her free but he still watched out for her. Most crawlers that had been interested in hurting her were dead or kept quiet about it. His last statement made her look over at him again. Did he not know of things? "Yes. I am. It's my..job." Well now that made it sound like she was..hunting crawlers and possibly shifters. "I mean it's my job to serve." that made it a bit more clear now.
Sighing she stood up and shook her pants a bit, wringing them out once more or a few times more. It was not as if she was naked. Still the pants were a bit too wet for her liking so..she kept them off. It was as if he'd never seen a half naked woman before. "you're going to catch a cold if you don't get out of those clothes" That was...probably a stupid thing to say but crawlers could get sick. Rare for them to but they could. She walked over to him she stopped after a few steps though; not sure if he would like that or bolt off again. Really all she wanted to do was help him. "I..I have some dry clothes at my apartment." she moved over to put her socks and shoes on.
She did not care if she was just in a t-shirt and bikini panties. There were humans walking around with far less than that.
